The commission for the selection of the candidate for the position of prosecutor generalaccepted five of the eight applicants for the post.
Nichifor Corochii, chairman of the Supreme Council of Magistrates and a member of the commission, has told IPN that the five candidates are jurist Mihai Petrache, former Minister of Defense Valeriu Plesca, lawyer Tudor Suveica, former prosecutor of Ialoveni district Gheorghe Nogai, and lawyer Emanoil Plosnita.
Former Minister of Justice VitaliePirlog, former Deputy Minister of the Interior BorisMuravschi, and lawyer IlieRotaru didn’t garner the necessary number of votes.
The accepted applicants will take part in the next round of the contest – the interview – in a week. The commission aims to choose the best candidate by the end of March. Afterward, the candidate is be confirmed by Parliament
The post of prosecutor general was vacated by ValeriuZubco following the tragic hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest.
