The works to build the first segment of the Chisinau International Airport have been completed. The platform was extended by 45,000 square meters, the section being built from zero. The newly built platform will enable to park up aircraft of different dimensions, including large planes, IPN reports.
In a press release, the airport managing company Avia Invest says now that the platform was extended, 23 new parking places for aircraft became available. This is much more than the platform reconstruction obligations undertaken for the first modernization stage.
The reconstruction of the second runway of the airport goes on. Embankment works were executed on an area of 24,000 square meters. The first layer for stabilizing the lateral sides has a total length of over 1,000 square meters. The runway was widened to 45 meters. Asphalting works on an area of 24,000 square meters were finished.
The company said three stabilization layers and the last layer of asphalt on the new runway are yet to be built. Also, the other surfaces of the airport are to be reconstructed.
