First reaction to deterioration of Moldovan-Romanian relations
The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) found out about the expulsion of the Romanian diplomats Laurentiu Pinte and Vasile Nanea of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau with concern and considers the deliberate worsening of the Moldovan-Romanian relations unacceptable, says a communique released by the PLDM, a political organisation under constitution, in the evening of December 12.
PLDM asks the Moldovan authorities to manifest responsibility and European spirit in administering the bilateral relations without resorting to uncivilized and irrational methods.
PLDM shares the conviction that the present relations between Moldova and Romania represent the product of the conservative and anti-European Moldovan Government and expresses its hope that the Rumanian citizens understand this.
On December 12, two diplomats of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau were declared personae non-gratae and forced to leave Moldova within 24 hours, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova announced in a communique. The Ministry said that the decision was made after it was ascertained that the two persons are incompatible with the diplomatic status held, but gave no other details.
