First portal to publish information on European integration of Moldova launched
The first portal from the Republic of Moldova where information regarding European integration is to be published was launched on Monday, June 5 in Chisinau. www.europa.md is a non-governmental, apolitical and non-commercial portal which is a part of the European Initiatives Programs of the Soros-Moldova Foundation.
Iulian Fruntasu, the head of the European Initiatives Program (EIP), declared at the launching that the published information can be used by the representatives of mass-media and NGOs, as well by the public. He said that the portal will try to cover political, social, cultural events related to European issues. “We hope that Europa.md will contribute to shorten the road of the Republic of Moldova to EU”, stated Fruntasu. The information can be accessed and used both by local and foreign public willing to find out about the evolutions and reforms from the Republic of Moldova on European integration.
Corina Fusu, editor-in-chief of the portal, said that Europa.md is a permanent source of news, which will present daily own reports from the most relevant events to happen in Moldova and abroad on the issue. As well there will be published analyses and evaluations regarding the European integration process and the implementation of the Moldova-EU Action Plan, in particular. The Portal will serve as a monitoring instrument for the implementation of the mentioned-above Plan, publishing reports of independent experts, both national and foreign, regarding the results obtained in the integration area. At the same time, practical information about seminars, conferences and relevant trainings which take place in Moldova will be presented, declared Fusu.
The political analyst Igor Botan, head of the Association for Participatory Democracy – ADEPT, present at the opening, said that the portal is very useful for the Republic of Moldova. Such an initiative is praiseworthy and deserves support, mentioned the analyst.
Info-Prim Neo specifies that Europa.md includes compartments referring to the Republic of Moldova, EU, the Moldovan-Russian conflict, the Action Plan Moldova-EU. According to the organizers, soon a Moldovan and international press review will be introduced; also an English version of the portal will be available.
