First Moldovan to win the Raiffeisen Bank scholarship at a prestigious European institution
A student of the Academy of Economic Studies from Moldova will learn in the 2006-2007 study year in the Rotterdam School of Management from the Netherlands. Andrei Marian will complete his studies in this prestigious university thanks to the “2006 Raiffeisen scholarship”, along with other 9 students from Romania, from the third edition of the project for students with exceptional results from graduation years in universities of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, organized by Raiffeisen Bank.
The “Raiffeisen scholarship” is intended to give financial aid to ten students with exceptional study results and with rich extra-curriculum experience and to offer jobs within the bank at completion. The budget for this year’s edition was EUR 25.000.
According to the bank’s president, Steven van Groningen, in its evolution Raiffeisen Bank is counting on quality, dynamism and innovation, qualities found in the young students. “For these students it is very important that a solid bank empowers them with trust and investment at the beginning of their career. As prestigious companies will create more such opportunities, a greater number of young professionals will choose to build a career in Romania and the Republic of Moldova” the quoted source stated.
From the overall 350 applications, 70 students were appreciated by the Human Resources Office, and 45 of these were tested on-line (the method of thinking, psychological profiles and interests of the applicants were tested). In the last part of the competition, 20 finalists have attended to an evaluation center, and 10 winners were chosen.
For the first time in the program, a scholarship to Moldovan student was granted. Raiffeisen Bank opened this year a subsidiary in Chisinau.
Of the 10 students who won the Raiffeisen Bank scholarship, 5 are ESA students, 2 from the University and 1 from the Polytechnics (all from Bucharest) and 1 from the West University of Timisoara. These students will complete their studies in prestigious universities from Germany, Sweden, Spain, France and the UK.
