First military parade rehearsal gets off on the wrong foot

The first common rehearsal for the Independence Day parade on August 27 proved troublesome for the guards’ commanders. After watching the exercise for about an hour, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said that the soldiers failed to execute the colonel’s orders accurately, perhaps because of the heat. The lines of alignment were crooked, the pace wasn’t exact and the flags weren’t raised at the same height. Nonetheless, the Minister promised that at the Independence Day parade the marchers would perform properly, Info-Prim Neo reports. The rehearsal of about 1,500 soldiers from all military forces involved in the parade took place under the bridge of Telecentru. They were aligned in 12 columns of 86 soldiers. This is how they will march in the Great National Assembly Square on August 27. “A soldier doesn’t care whether it’s hot or cold. He has a mission and the mission must be accomplished. The first common rehearsal is never successful. However, I can see they have trained individually pretty well. Now, we have to jell the subunits”, said Vitalie Marinuta. The first common rehearsal was conducted by Colonel Oleg Cibotari, who assured that the soldiers’ performance on August 27 would be top notch. Today, the marchers learned how many times to hurrah and how to salute the Ministry leadership. The individual rehearsals for the parade started in June. The military are convinced they will deliver quite a show on August 27. They say there is a month until the parade, enough time to coordinate the smallest details. There will be four other common rehearsals until the parade. Two of them will take place in the Great National Assembly Square. On August 27, Moldova will celebrate 20 years since it proclaimed its independence.
