The Moldovans are issued with the first identity card free of charge, regardless of the age when apply for it, the State Informational Resources Center “Registru” says in a communique, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the communique, under the Government Decision No. 600 of March 24, 2010, all the Moldovans who turned 16 and want to obtain an identity card can apply to the “Registru” offices. There are cases when persons who are older than 16 do not apply to obtain an identity card as they misunderstood the given document. “We underline that the first identity card is free of charge, regardless of the age of the applicant,” the communique says. By March 19, the State Informational Resources Center “Registru” has issued identification papers to 3,184 young people. The first Moldovan identity card was issued in 1996 to the first head of state Mircea Snegur.
