Fires claim three lives

Three men were killed in fires in Moldova on December 5. Two firefighting teams struggled to extinguish one of the fires, in Ialoveni town, IPN reports.

Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said the flames extended to two rooms and the entrance hall of a house. After putting out the fire, the firefighters found the almost carbonized body of a man aged 42. The cause of fire is yet to be determined.

A 45-year-old man perished in a house fire in Ciulucani village of Telenesti district. In Comrat, neighbors found the body of the owner aged 68 in his house. According to preliminary examinations, in both of the cases the fires were caused by smoldering cigarettes.

The fires so far this year have claimed 47 lives.
