The firefighters warn that the use of inappropriate materials for thermally insulating buildings leads to dangers. In case of fire, these burn at a very great speed. The flames are vertical and spread quickly to the upper floors. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the private individuals and legal entities to use fire-resistant materials for the purpose, IPN reports.

According to the Service’s press officer Diana Turcan, in the neighboring countries large fires occurred in buildings that were thermally insulated with polymeric materials. These resulted in deaths. In Moldova, there were no such large fires with victims, but damage was sustained. In the most recent fire on Mircea cel Batran Blvd in Ciocana district of Chisinau, the flames extended quickly from the fourth to the fifth floor owing to the inappropriate insulation.

Specialists warn that the thermal insulation and external plastering of walls with polymeric materials is not allowed in the case of buildings taller than 28 meters. In the buildings lower than 28 meters, it is allowed using only hardly combustible polymeric materials.
