Fir trees leased out for holidays

The fir trees can be rented for the holidays. They are brought from the largest nursery of Moldova, the Balti-based SA Codru-Nord, and are available at the South Market in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The market’s head Lilian Ciupac said a leased out tree costs between 150 and 350 lei. Delivery within the municipality of Chisinau is free of charge. The firs grow in a pot. The client pays the rent as well as 150 lei that he gets back when he returns the tree. According to Lilian Ciupac, the move is aimed at preventing the throwing of the trees after the winter holidays as they can be replanted so that they contribute to the protection of the environment. “Thus, there will be cut fewer firs for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, while the trees that will be returned will continue to grow in their natural environment,” he stated. A number of 200 trees will be leased out this year. Such a method is used in Canada, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. The offer will last from December 24, 2011 until January 15, 2012. The South Market is located in the immediate vicinity of the South Bus Terminal.
