Fiodor Ghelici: We're fed up with promises. We want Transnistrian conflict solved now

The president of the an NGO called “Moldova Mea” (My Moldova), Fiodor Ghelici, calls on all the Moldovan citizens, regardless of native language, religion and social origin to ask to be received by president Vladimir Voronin and the leader Igor Smirnov and demand them to solve the Transnistrian conflict. He made the statements at a news conference on Friday in Chisinau. Moldova Mea's leader has criticized Vladimir Voronin's and Igor Smirnov's attitude towards the way of holding the talks on solving the Transnistrian issue. Ghelici compares the situation in the Transnistrian conflict as a family in which the spouses live under the same roof but fight and lack coherence : “I call on you all not to wait for 17 years more to live in a divided country in the end.” The urge of the NGO leader was followed by remarks as to the communication barrier between the two banks of the Nistru, asking that the Transnistrian TV channels be broadcast in entire Moldova and vice versa. Fiodor Ghelici specifies he dislikes the hypothetic idea when the right bank would be under the authority of Moldovans with Romanian citizenship, and Transinstria – a territory occupied by Russia.
