Fiodor Ghelici puts forward proposals intended for protesters

The head of the Public Association “Moldova Mea” Fiodor Ghelici urged the people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau to accept representatives of other ethnic groups, Russian speakers, to join them and to stop demanding that the government should resign and to start demanding that the administration should do its duty. In a news conference at IPN, Fiodor Ghelici said the resignation of the government now that the winter is close will have catastrophic consequences for the country.

“Let’s imagine that the Government resigns now. What’s next? Who guarantees that opportunists who want a warm post will not come after the elections? If the Government resigns now, it will be a catastrophe for the country and the crisis will become deeper,” stated Fiodor Ghelici.

The activist considers that for the situation to be changed, the authorities should be forced to work for the people’s benefit. The first proposal is to insist on the amendment of the legislation so that the President is elected by the people. From Ghelici’s viewpoint, the decision for the head of state to be elected by Parliament was the most serious mistake made in the country’s history. Namely a head of state elected by the people will feel responsible for the people’s fate and will no longer depend on a group of bandits who entered Parliament owing to their money.

Another proposal is for the protesters to ask Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet to make effort for the minimum pension to be raised to the minimum subsistence level, while the immunity of judges should be annulled. Fiodor Ghelici called on the protesters not to yield to manipulation and to insist that the theft of the billions of lei should be investigated as it seems that the protests mounted before the Government Building are aimed at distracting attention from this theft.

The activist insists that the law enforcement bodies should be attentive and should penalize those who provoke destabilization and social division according to ethnic criteria. “I think everyone has the right to protest, but I’m against destroying property and against bloodshed,” stated Fiodor Ghelici.

The head of “Moldova Mea” noted that if the protest organizers care about the fate of this people, they will accept his proposals and will allow him to convey his message from the rostrum in the Great National Assembly Square in Russian.
