The Inspectorate for Environment Protection, the National Food Safety Agency and the National Public Health Agency by the date of May 30 of each year will take measures to identify plots on which ambrosia grows and will monitor the destruction of the plant.
The Cabinet approved regulations to this effect on October 3, IPN reports. In the period between the sprouting of the plant and the end of the vegetation period, the persons responsible for the management of the plots will be obliged to destroy the ambrosia by mowing it, pulling it out or treating it with phytosanitary products.
If the provisions of the regulations are not respected, the responsible persons will be fined up to 1,500 lei. If these are not identified, the local public authorities will bear responsibility for looking after the plot.
