The National Anticorruption Center said that until November 15, it imposed fines of over 6,150,000 lei for passive electoral corruption, on the basis of the reports received from the police, IPN reports.
According to the NAC, the fines per case ranged from 25,000 to 37,500 lei. The persons were punished for claiming, accepting or receiving, personally or through an intermediary, unmerited goods, services, privileges or advantages, in any form, for the purpose of exercising or not exercising the electoral rights.
Currently, the NAC is examining the reports received from the General Police Inspectorate and will make decisions on them. Those who committed violations can be released from liability if they denounce them and actively contribute to the discovery or countering of electoral corruption.
