Final consignment of relief goods from Romania has been delivered to Moldova
The last consignment of relief goods donated by Romania for drought victims in Moldova has arrived in Moldova, the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau announced.
The value of the drought relief amounted to a total of 2 million euros. Starting October 11, during four weeks, more than 130 lorries with a 20t capacity each delivered from Romania 2,100 tonnes of wheat, 400 tonnes of potatoes and 40 tonnes of powder milk.
“We trust that the Government of the Republic of Moldova will distribute without delay the foodstuff donated by Romania and that the aid will reach the population most affected by this summer’s drought”, the Embassy said in a press release.
“Romania has always been and still is a reliable partner of Moldova, by contributing to the development of the bilateral relations as well as to promoting Moldova’s European aspiration”, the communique reads.
According to official estimates, this year’s drought has caused losses of nearly 12 billion lei to the national economy.
