Films “Milika” and “Arrividerci” to be screened at “Gaudeamus” during four days

Two films made by Valeriu Jereghi – “Milika” and “Arrividerci” – which are about the harsh life of children in Moldova, will be showed at the Movie Theater “Gaudeamus” in Chisinau on October 20-23, IPN reports. The idea of screening the two films together was put forward by the filmmaker, at the request of the general public.

“Arrividerci” was made in 2008. It is about the sad story of two children who remained without parental care – a boy aged seven and his younger sister. The boy, who is a first grader, assumed all the family-related responsibilities. When he was asked by his teacher where his mother was, he said that she was in Italy and showed the country with his finger on the map.

Valeriu Jereghi made the film under the impression of a real story of two children who remained home alone on Easter and who together baked an Easter cake. During many years, this film was awarded at the most prestigious international film festivals and was applauded by European lawmakers and appreciated by film director and actor Franco Nero.

“Milika” was made last autumn. It is a dramatic film about a little girl whose parents separated and formed new families each, while the child remained with the grandmother. Shooting took place in Butuceni, Orheiul Vechi. The main parts are played by Valeriu Jereghi’s daughter Emilia and his mother Teodora Jereghi. This fiction film will be premiered at “Gaudeamus” on October 19. Entrance to the premiere is invitation-based.
