Filat to meet with parliamentary factions and unaffiliated MPs

Prime Minister designate Vlad Filat the coming days will hold consultations with all the parliamentary factions and the unaffiliated lawmakers in a bid to find support for the new government program and the new Cabinet. “I remain determined to promote the national interest of ensuring a European future for every family and person,” Vlad Filat said in a press briefing on April 10, after President Nicolae Timofti fielded him for premiership, IPN reports.

The Premier designate said that during the over three years as Head of Government, he worked based on top priorities, the most important of which is Moldova’s European future. “The Alliance for European Integration achieved important results. We were united in our commitment to ensure Moldova’s European future. But we reached a point when, owing to abuses and obstacles placed to the reforms, we couldn’t go on,” said Vlad Filat.

He also said that he will have consultations with civil society and the development partners of Moldova so as to come to Parliament with a team and a program that will enjoy the greatest support possible.

Under the Constitution, the Premier designate has 15 days at his disposal to present the new Government’s work program and the members of the Cabinet that are to gain the Parliament’s vote of confidence.
