Filat and Shevchuk expected to meet in February

Prime Minister Vlad Filat may have a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk on the initiative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Leonid Kozhara, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Transnistrian press reported that while in Tiraspol, Leonid Kozhara urged Yevgeny Shevchuk to have a meeting with Vlad Filat on the sidelines of the round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format that will take place in Ukraine’s Lvov in February. “I invited Yevgeny Shevchuk to pay a visit to Ukraine in the near future. There is a good occasion for this. A new round of talks in the 5+2 format will be held in Lvov at end-February. I also invited the Moldovan side. Mister Filat confirmed that he will come. We want the dialogue between representatives of the two sides of the river to be continued,” said Leonid Kozhara. On January 21, the OSCE Chairperson met with Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti, Speaker Marian Lupu, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca.
