A man aged 52 and his 20-year-old daughter died in a car accident in Sângerei district this morning. The man’s wife and the driver of the other car involved in the collision were hospitalized.

Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Sângerei Police Inspectorate Ina Moscaliuc said the accident occurred at about 05:40am near Coșcodeni village. The man was heading for the municipality of Bălți and had his wife and daughter as passengers. At a certain moment, he changed lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle.

As a result of the impact, the driver of the Toyota Corola car and his daughter died on the spot, while the 45-year-old woman and the 51-year-old driver of the other car, a Mercedes Sprinter, were rushed to the hospital for being given medical care.

“The accident was most probably due to the weather conditions as the roadway was slippery. An investigation is under way to establish all the circumstances,” stated Ina Moscaliuc.
