A 27-year-old man died last night after he was crushed by a car of the General Border Police Inspectorate. The accident happened in Purcari village of Ștefan Vodă district after midnight. The Border Police employees on duty were travelling to Olănești village.
The General Police Inspectorate (GPI) said the driver felt that the car passed over a person on the right side of the roadway. The man aged 27 from Purcari died on the spot.
“The victim was identified by the local police officer. He will be subject to a medical examination so as to find out the exact cause of death and see if he was initiated,” GPI press officer Diana Fetco stated for IPN.
The Drager device test showed that neither the driver, nor his mate, both employees of the Regional Division “East”, drank alcoholic beverages. Legal action was taken. The car was transported to a special parking lot and is to be examined.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the General Border Police Inspectorate Dorina Rusu said the employees were on duty and were travelling from the Olănești Border Police Section to the border segment. The accident occurred at a dangerous turn. The driver saw the lying person the last moment.
“Given the circumstances, the border police officer didn’t manage to avoid the impact. The VAZ car was travelling legally,” stated Dorina Rusu. To ensure impartiality in the investigation, the case will be dealt with by the prosecution bodies.
