A register of aggressors in cases of violence against women and domestic violence will be created in the Republic of Moldova. The concept of the information system was approved on Wednesday by the Cabinet. It will contain detailed information about cases of violence – data on aggressors, victims, protection measures applied or decisions taken regarding family aggressors, IPN reports.
"With such a register in place, the authorities will have quick access to relevant information to ensure a safer environment for the community," said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
The register will store information on all forms of violence: physical, psychological, sexual, economic or spiritual.
Violence remains a harsh reality in Moldova: at least 22 women died after being subjected to abuse since the beginning of this year. The figure is comparable to that of last year, when 21 women died from mistreatment in the same period.
