Counterfeit euro bills to the value of over €19,000 were found during searches in northern Moldova at a person who is suspected of forging banknotes and putting them into circulation. The police determined ties between this and two more persons who are investigated for similar offenses, IPN.
The Bălți Prosecutor’s Office said the two persons in February put two $100 bills into circulation in the municipality of Bălți. The criminal cases against the two were remitted to court.
The police continued the inquiries to find out who transmitted the counterfeit bills to the two persons and identified the third person. The searches were carried out on December 29.
