Experts said the sum of 125 million lei asked by the Central Election Commission for organizing the elections of July 11 is exaggerated. They consider the allocation of money in several parts by the Government represents a risk as the electoral functionaries could refuse to take part in the organization of elections when they are not sure that they will be paid for their work, IPN reports.

According to representatives of Promo-LEX, the allocation by the Government of only 70 million lei of the necessary 125 million lei is a major risk as some of the electoral functionaries could refuse to become involved in the process.

“We see a game of the power here. I think a compromise will be finally reached, but this should be done faster as the electoral offices start work on June 5 and the people should be sure that they will be remunerated for their work. There is a risk they will abandon their duties on the way if they are not paid,” Nicolae Panfil, of Promo-LEX, stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

Watchdog expert Valeriu Pașa said the money for organizing the elections can be easily identified as the law provides there can be allocated funds equal to at most 10% of the budgets of particular public institutions The expenditure estimate presented by the CEC is exaggerated.
