Executive discusses possibility to simplify procedures for awarding of preferential credits to some layers of population

A working sitting convoked by Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, with the participation of decision-making officials, has focussed on simplification of the procedure of granting of preferential credits to participants in the Afghan war, the Dniester war and cleanup of consequences of the Chernobil disaster. According to a governmental communication, the premier promised that the executive will support these categories of population, in line with the October 15. 2004 decision # 1146 on preferential credits for some categories of population. He expressed concern with the slow conduct of the credit release process. „Regretfully, seven districts did not benefit of such credits,” Tarlev noted, adding that the responsible persons will be severely punished for delaying and bureaucratisation of this process. Tarlev was unsatisfied that no commercial bank has got involved in this process except for the Savings Bank. He ordered the Finance Ministry to organise a roundtable with the participation of the Association of Banks to examine ways of simplification of the procedure for granting of credits. The prime minister asked the Finance Ministry to monitor strictly the process of crediting and weekly information of the government over existing problems. According to information provided by local public authorities, 3,741 persons have applied for preferential credits worth 249,051,400 lei, as of February 1. As many as 238 such applications worth 15 million are expected to be fulfilled the next two months. Under decision # 1146, the afferent interests for the entire period of use of credits are paid from the state budget.
