Ex-NBM governor placed under house arrest

The former governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) Dorin Drăguțanu and division head Ion Ropot were placed under house arrest. At the lawyers’ request, the Chisinau City Appeals Court replaced the remand detention with house arrest. The information was confirmed for IPN by the spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General’s Office Maria Vieru.

The warrants for the arrest of the two were extended for 30 days on March 30. The house arrest of former NBM vice governor Emma Tăbârță was also extended for a month. Earlier, the prosecutors decided to investigate vice governor Aureliu Cincilei outside remand after he cooperated with the investigation bodies, but he was banned from leaving the place of residence.

Also, on March 11 the court placed NBM vice governor Ion Sturzu under house arrest for 30 days. On April 3, the court accepted the prosecutor’s request to extend the house arrest for the vice governor for another 30 days.
