Ex-interior deputy minister charged with negligence leading to death

The former Deputy Minister of the Interior Valentin Zubic has been charged by prosecutors with negligence on duty that led to the death of Valeriu Boboc and other severe consequences during the April 2009 disturbances, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to prosecutors, Valentin Zubic will remain free under bail conditions during the investigation. The former deputy minister is charged with negligence on duty, which is punishable with a fine between 6,000 and 16,000 lei or jail between 3 and 7 years. In both cases, the sentenced person will be banned from public functions for a period of 5 years. One year ago, on March 9, 2010, the Prosecutor General’s Office completed proceedings against former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc and former General Commissar of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari, charged with negligence on duty leading to the death of Valeriu Boboc and other serious consequences in April 2009, and remitted their cases to court. During the trials, several witnesses said most orders were given by then Deputy Minister Valentin Zubic.
