Former Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah has launched the Moldova Platform – a public association that is to bring together honest people. According to her, never since the declaring of independence, the split in society was so great and the distance between the pseudo-political elite and the people was so wide. She called on the opposition parties, regardless of their doctrine, to join the platform, IPN reports.
Irina Vlah noted she earlier informed that after her term in office as Bashkan (governor) expires, she will launch a nationwide sociopolitical project. “I address all the citizens who are not indifferent to the country’s fate, all those who have a say in the area in which they work, all those who are ignored, humiliated, underestimated by the current government, the opposition parties, regardless of their doctrine,” she stated.
According to her, the central authorities focus on the foreign policy and geopolitical matters and ignore the internal policy, social policy and the problems experienced by the citizens. “We need unity. Only when there is no arrogance gap between the people and the government, the nation will be able to prosper. We need a political class educated in the spirit of the respect for the citizens,” said the ex-Bashkan.
Irina Vlah served as Bashkan of Gagauzia since 2015 until 2023.
