Every tree that will be planted this year with assistance of municipal budget this spring will cost 300-400 lei
Every tree that will be planted in the Chisinau municipality this spring will cost 300-400 lei, this being the price of the state-owned company Moldsilva. Ad-interim mayor-general Vasile Ursu insists that the trees and bushes be purchased from this business.
Ursu has told a recent operative sitting that the saplings “must be 2-3 years old,” but „not the one eaten by goats.” He indicated that the saplings be purchased from Moldsilva only though its prices are much higher than of other nurseries.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the deputy chief of the association for administration of green areas, Eliferie Haruta, said that only 60,000 trees and bushes will be planted this year, not 150,000-200,000 like in the past years because prices of seeds are very high, especially of
Moldsilva. Other nurseries propose trees for 25-60 lei apiece, while bushes for 6-10 lei apiece, depending on the size and age, Haruta noted. “We are gathering the pricelists and we will negotiate with the firm from which we will purchase seeds.” She expressed concern with the huge spending from the municipal budget, if the municipality buys trees for 300-400 lei apiece.
The seeding material was purchased from nurseries that proposed the best prices in the past years, at the insistence of the mayor general of Chisinau. Thus, 200,000 trees and bushes were planted last year for 360,000 lei. The municipal budget and ecological fund will pay about 9 million lei for trees and bushes from Moldsilva this year.
