The European Parliament on July 4 is to vote on the draft decision to provide €100 million in macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports. On its website, Radio Free Europe, with reference to MEP Sorin Moisa, who is the rapporteur on this case, says that if the draft decision is adopted by the MEPs, the assistance will be disbursed in three tranches on condition that reforms continue to be done. The use of money will be attentively followed and the allocation of funds could be interrupted at any time.
The European Parliament on July 3 debated the provision of macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova. The MEPs had differing opinions on the issue. Some said the Republic of Moldova should be supported, while others opposed the allocation of money owing to the Moldovan authorities’ intention to change the electoral system.
Of the sum of €100 million, €60 million is provided in loans, while €40 million the form of grants.
