European Parliament delegation to assess progress of democratic reforms in Moldova
A delegation from the European Parliament, headed by Marianne Mikko, co-chair of EU-Moldova Cooperation Committee, will be here in Moldova on Sunday for the tenth meeting of the Committee, to take place next week on October 1-2.
The meeting agenda includes debates on the political and economic situation in Moldova, the Parliament’s press unit reports.
The discussions will also address democratic reforms, in particular in the judiciary, and the way the freedom of media and human rights are observed in Moldova. Prospects for the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute and Moldova’s relations with its immediate neighbours will also be an item on the meeting agenda.
During the visit to Chisinau, the Members of the European Parliament will meet mass-media and civil society representatives, will visit the office of the European Commission’s Delegation in Chisinau and the Joint European Visa Centre. The programme of the European delegation also includes visits to the Specialised Municipal House for Children and to the Penitentiary no.13.
