25 countries will take part at the European Championship „10 dances” and at the International Dance Sport Competition “Codreanca - 2006”, held on 29 - 30 April in the Palace of Republic. The chairman of Dance Sport Association of Moldova, Petru Gozun, informed on Wednesday, 26 April, at a press conference that there will be confirmed the participation of other two countries in these competitions. This year, Moldova will be represented at the European Championship by a new couple, which at the moment are national champions and winners of many national and international contests - Stefan Cibotaru and Marina Bazarova. This couple represents, in Petru Gozun’s opinion, the future of the Dance Sport of Moldova. He also considers that the couple Cibotaru-Bazarova has great chances to qualify among the first places of the championship. A strong competition for Moldovan couple can be Russian and Slovenian couples, who have high performances in Latino-American dance and standard one, Gozun noted. Financial contribution of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in organizing the European Championship is of 280,000 lei. Petru Gozun avoided revealing the total budget for this year edition, on the ground that this fact would be evaluated only when the competition ends. The European Championship will be held for the second time in Chisinau. The competition was held for the first time in 2004. According to the regulation, every participant country will be represented by a single couple.
