The President of the European Council António Costa will pay a working visit to the Republic of Moldova on Monday, March 3. The President’s Office of Moldova said the visit marks three years since the country's application for accession to the European Union, IPN reports.

The official will bewelcomed by President Maia Sandu. "The visit takes place three years after the submission of the application for Moldova's accession to the European Union and reaffirms the EU's support for our country's European path," reads a press release.

On Monday, at 09:20 a.m., António Costa and Maia Sandu will hold a joint press conference at the Presidential Palace.

The Republic of Moldova submitted its application for accession to the European Union on March 3, 2022, and in June the same year it obtained the ‘candidate country’ status. Accession negotiations were officially launched last June.
