The right-wing political parties negotiate to participate in the 2009 elections on the lost of a single party. Such a statement was made Tuesday by the "European Action Movement" Party (EAMP), at a news conference at Info-Prim Neo news agency. EAMP's vice president Ion Neagu says talks are held now with the PLDM, PL, AMN and PNL. Neagu hopes they will reach a consensus by fall. The negotiations stay at different stages, as some parties display more reserves. "The talks with PLDM are the most advanced ones, as PL is harder to persuade," he said. EAMP leaders say they will not negotiate with PDM and PSD, as they believe those parties closely cooperate with the Communists. As the electoral blocs are banned, the politicians on the single list will officially represent a single party, but this won't mean the disappearance of the other parties, Neagu specified. The EAMP members say the negotiating process implies cessions. Asked whether this thing may affect the image of the political parties, vice president Nicolae Rosca has said “the cessions may strengthen the party in the future”. According to the EAMP, the criteria taken into account in setting up the list are the party's popularity, the number of its members and the party's influence on the political arena. EAMP re-elected its president at the second extraordinary congress, on Sunday, June 29. It is Anatol Petrencu. The members presented two resolutions adopted at the congress. The first refers to the party's attitude as to the socio-political situation in the country, while the second one criticizes “the attacks of the communist rulers over independent media.” The EAMP was registered on April 12, 2007. It has complied with the legislation and modified its name as the “The European Action Movement” party. EAMP considers itself to be of center-right orientation with the major goal to make Moldova join the European Union. Its leadership says the party has over 12,000 members.
