The European Union will simplify the procedure of issuing visas and working permits for non-EU nationals, including those from Moldova. Benita Ferrero Waldner, European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Neighbourhood Policy told the German newspaper “Die Welt” that the aim of this strategy is to reduce the number of illegal immigrants, to facilitate the legal migration and to cover the labour demand in some of the economy’s sectors. Each member state of EU will decide individually the number of migrants and the sectors where they will be enabled to work, the EU official explained.
