The notion of Moldova one day joining the European Union is strongly supported by 38% of Moldovans, shows a poll conducted by the International Republican Institute. At the same time, a majority of Moldovans seems to shun NATO.
When asked if they support or oppose Moldova’s potential membership in the Eurasian Union, 22% of respondents said they strongly support the idea, 27% answered somewhat support, and 18% others said they somewhat oppose it.
At the same time, when asked if they are in favor or against Moldova becoming a EU member in the future, 38% of respondents said they strongly support it, 26% chose the somewhat support option, and 16% said they strongly oppose European integration.

The poll also shows that a significant part of Moldovans, or 46%, would vote against our country joining NATO if such a referendum was held. 21% would vote against and 17% others would abstain from voting. The number of those opposing a potential NATO membership has increased from only 31% in September 2014.
