The ambassadors of the EU member states in Chisinau had a meeting with candidates for the post of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia and their representatives in Comrat on March 9. Current Governor of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal described the meeting as an ordinary one, saying the practice is beneficial, IPN reports.

The portal gagauzmedia.md reported that the goal of the visit was for the diplomats to discuss with candidates for the post of Bashkan. The meeting involved five candidates and representatives of the other six candidates, who invoked the tight program related to the election campaign for their absence.

The Governor elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. A meeting of the kind was held in 2006 too. Mihail Formuzal said such visits have a beneficial impact on the electoral processes in Gagauzia.
