The captain of the national football team of Moldova Alexandru Epureanu prolonged his contract with Istanbul Basaksehir until the summer of 2020, when he will turn 33, IPN reports.

He has played for the Turkish team since 2014, managing to score four goals so far. Basaksehir ranks fourth and has good chances of qualifying for Europa League. Alexandru’s brother Sergiu Epureanu also competed in the championship of Turkey.

Alexandru Epureanu was named the best footballer in Moldova for four times – in 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2012. He won three titles with Sheriff and two Moldova’s Cups with Zimbru and Sheriff. Earlier he also played for FC Moscow, Dinamo Moscow, Krylia Sovetov, and Anji. For the national team of Moldova, Epureanu played 71 matches and scored seven goals.
