Energy issues to be discussed by Moldo-Romanian Joint Inter-Governmental Commission
The order of the day of the Inter-Governmental Moldo-Romanian Commission of economic cooperation and European integration contains a n umber of energy-related common problems. The session of the Commission starts on October 23 in Bucharest, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to first deputy premier Igor Dodon, the Moldovan co-chairman of the Commission, in fact it is discussing about the power line connecting Balti and Suceava. Another project interesting for Czech investors is about building a thermal power station of 400 MW and for building a power line connecting Ungheni to Iasi.
“In addition, we'll again tackle the issue of opening the border-crossing point at Lipcani-Radauti. Moldova has done all the necessary preparations to open this point 1.5 years ago, being convinced that opening that point will ease bilateral trade. There are also other subjects of mutual interest, as investments, increasing quality infrastructure. We want to take over certain European standards and the Romanian colleagues can be useful. We'll also be discussing cooperation in agriculture and industry,” the Economu Minister stated.
Dodon has reminded that Romania is the main commercial partner of Moldova. This year the exports to Romania increased 80 %, after the EU granted Moldova the Autonomous Trade Preferences. At the same time, Romania is the ranked the third among countries Moldova imports from.
The Moldovan deputation is made up from Violeta Ivanov, Ecology Minister, Eugenia Kistruga, deputy Foreign Minister, Anatol Spivacenco, deputy Agriculture Minister, Lidia Gutu, Moldova's Ambassador to Bucharest, Mariana Slapac, deputy president of Science Academy, Viorel Melnic, Customs Service chief, and other officials.
