The project of energy efficiency and thermal rehabilitation of buildings in Chisinau reduces expenses for the maintenance of educational institutions, and the money could be redistributed for capital constructions. The municipality needs to build new kindergartens and schools, stated Ruslan Verbițchi, member of the DA Platform in the Chisinau City Council, during an IPN debate on the subject.
According to the municipal councilor, the energy efficiency of educational institutions must remain a priority because “the safety of children and their comfort is of utmost importance”.
The costs of maintaining schools and kindergartens will be reduced by about 40%. The project also changes the installation of the LED lighting system, and this is where the biggest economy is produced in school and preschool institutions. Now the buildings in the project are insulated on the outside, as well as the roofs, basements, the carpentry is replaced, the thermal systems are replaced, the engineering systems are rehabilitated and others.
“Building management is important. If we talk about the new buildings that are being built, they are already insulated and have energy efficiency. The local public administration buildings are also important because the City Hall really needs these projects as well, because the departments, the municipal enterprises still have certain costs for their maintenance. This project will allow us to save. We can redistribute this money in the reconstruction of courtyards, playgrounds for children, parks”.
“After this project is completed, I would do an economic calculation and a statistic on the benefits it has and send it to the government and I want to see what their response will be. And we will know for sure if they are ready to invest to save the money of the residents of Chisinau”, said the municipal councilor, insisting that the central authorities should get involved and support such projects.|
The “Energy efficiency and thermal insulation of buildings of public institutions in Chisinau” project provides measures for 14 secondary education institutions, 5 kindergartens and 3 hospitals in the capital.
