Energocom will purchase natural gas from the European Union and Ukraine to supply the Transnistrian region. A decree to this effect was issued by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.
The Commission ordered Energocom to purchase natural gas, in the amount of 20 million euros, from authorized trading platforms in the European Union or Ukraine, at market conditions and taking into account the technical limitations that may affect the delivery of natural gas to the Republic of Moldova, including the technical capacity of the interconnections with the countries from which the gas will be supplied.
Subsequently, the company will ensure the transmission of natural gas, based on a schedule agreed with Tiraspoltransgaz, in energy units. The volume will not exceed the daily value of 3 million cubic meters.
Energocom will take the necessary actions to ensure the transportation of natural gas to the delimitation points, and payment for the gas transportation service will be made by Energocom, according to the tariffs approved by ANRE (National Energy Regulatory Agency).
Additionally, Energocom will purchase electricity, in the amount of 10 million euros, from authorized trading platforms in the EU or Ukraine for consumers on the right bank of the Dniester River.
The decision was made in order to fulfill the conditions set for disbursing the first tranche, worth 30 million euros, according to the Financing Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission.
