SA Energocom purchased approximately 600 million cubic meters of gas or 6.37 million MWh between June and October 2023. The weighted average price is US$ 410 per 1,000 cubic meters or €35.07 per MWh, IPN reports.
More than 40 rounds of tender contests were organized between June 6 and October 5 to purchase natural gas both with own financial resources and with the loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, of which 27 rounds ended with the conclusion of contracts. Natural gas was bought from nine companies of Romania, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland, and Austria. Under the contract clauses, Energocom cannot provide more information about concrete transactions, the company noted in a press release.
“As in the tender contests held the previous year, decisions about the timing of purchases and prices were guided by such aspects as the reference price at the Dutch gas hub (TTF), the fact that some of the transmission system operators, due to the reduced flow of gas during the summer season have a lower transmission charge than during the winter season and also the availability of transport capacities which, on some routes, are limited in certain periods of the year,” said the company’s interim director Victor Bînzari.
The purchase price paid includes the cost of transportation to the point of delivery and, in the case of gas bought directly in reservoirs, the cost of transportation and injection.
