SA Energocom during September 4 – October 5 purchased approximately 3 million MWh of natural gas, which is about 280 million cubic meters, from seven companies, at three different delivery points, IPN reports.
The weighted average price was €35.77 per MWh (about US$420 per 1 000 m3). The cost of transportation to the storage place, injection, storage, extraction and transportation to Moldova, when this gas is needed, will be added to this price.
“The purchases were made with the loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, fully using the diversification tranche of €100 million (second cycle),” says a press release issued by the company.
Under the agreement with the EBRD, 30 rounds of tendering were held the past month and purchases were made when the price on the international markets was favorable.
The volume includes the about 100 million cubic meters of gas bought at the beginning of September from the Greek company DEPA. “This way, in total we managed to acquire over 500 million cubic meters of gas and continue to purchase in a bid to fully cover consumption during the winter period,” noted Energocom.
