Emotional moments at Edelweiss Surprises Gala introduced by Andreea Marin

The Edelweiss Foundation staged an evening of positive emotions and surprises to mark four years of work alongside its hundreds of beneficiaries from all over the country. The Edelweiss Surprises Gala was introduced by popular presenter Andreea Marin who, in cooperation with the Foundation sponsored by Vlad Plahotniuc, announced the donations that changed the lives of five families in difficulty, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Foundation.

One by one, the families invited to the Edelweiss Gala as ordinary spectators were taken by surprise when they were invited to the stage by Andreea Marin. The public found out their stories and the extraordinary difficulties through which they went. The Foundation prepared carefully the donations so as to make the dreams of these families come true.

The culmination of the evening was the meeting of the Edelweiss founder Vlad Plahotniuc and Petru Chirita – a young man who became known after he took part in a TV contest of talents. Vlad Plahotniuc said that he himself heard the story of Petru Chirita on TV and, impressed by this ambitious young man, decided to help him.

“Petru is not a social case for me. He is an example of love for the close people and of very developed and rare self-sacrifice,” said Vlad Plahotniuc, announcing that Edelweiss will provide 100,000 lei for repairing the parental home where Petru lives together with his family and the necessary electrical appliances. Furthermore, Petru will receive a monthly scholarship of 2,000 lei to study during three years. Edelweiss also signed a contract with a nurse, who will daily look after Petru’s mother at home.

For the Grecu family from Chisinau, Edelweiss will cover the costs for treating their two-year-old girl who was diagnosed with eye cancer. Brothers Cristin and Ionela from Lingura village of Cantemir district were offered modern hearing aids. Nicolae Rajac, who beat the leukemia owing to the assistance provided by the Foundation, will benefit from rehabilitating treatment, while his family will be able to repair their home. Cristina Andries will be able to study music and to prepare for a career in music.

“All these wonderful moments are possible owing to an extraordinary team that you cannot see, but that is there – the team of the Edelweiss Foundation,” said Andreea Marin. At the end of the event, the Romanian band Holograf put on a great show for the friends of Edelweiss.
