The documentary film "Eminescu's Chest" will be presented on January 15 in a gala screening at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The film directed by Cristian Radu Nema will be screened on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Mihai Eminescu's birth, IPN reports.
According to AGERPRES, the event is organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and the Romanian Academy and will take place simultaneously in Bucharest and Chisinau.
The film focuses on the story of Mihai Eminescu's travel chest, which was put up for auction and bought by a great admirer of the poet. The young man who managed to buy the chest became preoccupied with the story of the chest and the manuscripts that the poet kept in it.
The premiere in Romania took place at the Cesianu Palace in 2019, and the world premiere - at the Cannes Film Festival.
On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the birth of Mihai Eminescu, a symbol of national and universal literature, the Academies on both banks of the Prut River came up with the initiative to declare 2025 the Year of Mihai Eminescu.
