Electronic visas for Moldova will be issued to foreigners from August 1

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced that the e-Visa service enabling the applicants for short-stay visas in Moldova to file applications online, accessing the governmental portal www.evisa.gov.md, will start work on August 1, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Ministry, e-Visa is the equivalent of the traditional visa and represents an imprinted authorization that allows the foreigners to enter Moldova through any border crossing point. To obtain a visa, the applicant will fill out the application in electronic form and will attach all the required documents to it. If the application is accepted, the person will pay the visa fee through a bank card and will receive the electronic visa on the email address.

The Ministry said the e-Visa facilitates the obtaining of visas by foreign citizens from countries where there are no embassies or consulates of Moldova. The service will also contribute to developing tourism and businesses. The foreigners will benefit from an efficient, convenient, swift and safe service. E-Visa is part of the e-Transformation Project that is supported by the World Bank and is implemented through the E-Government Center.
