From September, since when three types of civil status documents can be asked online, only 7% of all the applicants have used multimedia terminals. The others preferred to go themselves to the Civil Status Office, IPN reports.
More than 2,000 multilingual extracts of birth, marriage and death certificates have been asked since September, 145 of which by terminal.
The situation is similar in the case of another two electronic services launched by the Civil Status Service last December. These are the civil status certificate and the name and/or surname non-modification certificate. Of the over 19,000 required documents, 801 or 4% were issued by terminal.
Deputy head of the Civil Status Service’s Audience and Documents Issuing Division Ion Iovu said the people’s reduced interest in electronic services is due to the fact that the applicants mainly want to be issued with documents immediately, in an hour or two. Online, they cannot obtain documents so quickly.
When documents are asked by terminals, a tax of 10 lei is added to their price.
Next week, there will be launched another eight electronic civil status services, four of which refer to the issuing of duplicates of birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates, while the other four to extracts.
The E-civil status service was launched with the aim of providing accessible, transparent and efficient public services of a high quality.
