The electronic medicine will be a new project of informational technologies, which might be implemented in Moldova the next month, the regional representative of the International Telecommunications Union, Valeri Timofeev, announced on Tuesday at a press conference. According to the quoted source, the project aims at ensuring electronic access to specialized information through certain mobile points. Especially, these mobile points will work in the rural localities and will provide only disease diagnosis services, Timofeev noted, mentioning that in this way it the real needs of the population could be identified. The value of the projects amounts to a few million dollars. At the start, the specialists will make an estimation of the costs, depending on the possibilities and real needs of project’s implementation in the districts of the country. According to Timofeev, the money for implementing this project could be attracted from the private sector and international funds, but first of all it will be necessary to develop the legislative base, in order to make possible the implementation of such projects. The Minister of Informational Technologies, Vladimir Molojen, mentioned that the doctors of Moldova are interested in implementing new informational technologies in medicine. Now only the theoretic part of the project is known, and during its implementation the experts will evaluate the necessary number of such mobile points and the area needed to be covered. Within CIS area, the project will be implemented for the first time in Moldova. A similar project will be implemented this year in Uzbekistan.
