Energy experts do not rule out the possibility that the electrical power tariffs will be increased again in the course of the year. Forecasts were made in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“The adjustment of tariffs was inevitable. We have permanent discussions with the IMF. We will see operators’ reactions. The distributing company also has discussions with the IMF. I’m sure more requests to adjust the tariffs will be made. The rise in tariffs was unavoidable,” stated deputy minister of economy Valeriu Triboi.
Ex-director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) Victor Palicov noted that more tariff rises could follow. “Those from the NAER played their ace, invoking specific legal provisions to refuse particular increases. Thus, the NAER accepted a 3% rise in tariffs, not the 9% rise asked by the supplier. From tactical viewpoint, they won time. I’m sure that “Fenosa” will have discussions with the IMF and the subject will return to the agenda,” he said.
