After Saturdays and Sundays, when electricity consumption is usually low, an increase of 14% is expected on Monday, January 6, compared to Sunday, and of about 3% compared to Friday, January 3. JSC Energocom assures that it made all the necessary capacity reservations to be able to import the contracted power or the power that will be purchased from the stock exchange, IPN reports.
For comparison, on Sunday, during the peak demand hours, between 05:00 p.m. and 08:00 p.m., all users on the right bank of the Nistru consumed less than 700 MW, but for Monday a demand of 771 MW is anticipated for the peak hours, between 05:00 p.m. and 06:00 p.m. Between 05:00 p.m. and 08:00 p.m., electricity costs the most.
Energocom noted that, according to the Next Day Market on the Romanian stock exchange, 1 MWh for January 6 will cost over €167.
"We urge consumers to rationally use electricity between 04:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in order to have both lower bills and to ensure the reliability of the electricity system and to have energy in a continuous flow," reads a press release.
Therefore, for January 6, the electricity consumption on the right bank of the Nistru will be covered by district heating plants in Chisinau and Balti, local renewable energy installations and imported energy.
At the same time, the Government's Crisis Cell specifies that on the left bank, the volume of energy produced by MGRES/Kirana Power Plant and the Dubasari Hydropower Plant is not sufficient, with hourly disconnections being carried out.
"As for the electricity supply of the left bank, there is an acute shortage of energy and, in order to avoid overloading the network, phased disconnections (per hour) are performed, including of street and decorative lighting after 20:00," a press release reads.
The villages of Copanca and Varnița, controlled by the constitutional authorities, were also affected by the disconnections. The central authorities are constantly in touch with the mayors of the two localities and exchange information about the situation in the region.
Today, January 6, the phased disconnections on the left bank of the Nistru started at 08:00 a.m. and will be carried out at a series of addresses each hour, until 12 midday.
