The state is also announcing compensations on electricity following the price hikes approved today. The compensations will be granted to those households that have already registered in the "Help at the meter" program, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection announced. Alexei Buzu also said that the state will cover the difference between the previous tariff and the increased one for a consumption of 110 kWh, IPN reports.
More precisely, according to the minister, after today's increase in tariffs, the state will compensate for energy consumption not intended for household heating from January. This is a monthly consumption of 110 kWh for the period January-March 2025.
"A household that already benefits from compensation this cold season and will consume up to 110 kWh per month will not feel these tariff increases, because they will be compensated by the state", Minister Buzu said.
The volume of energy consumption to be compensated was determined after analyzing last year's consumption. The monthly average turned out to be 138 kWh per month. Thus, the state will compensate 80%.
The compensation budget for December 2024 is half a billion lei for almost 680 thousand households.
The minister also announced that the state will also compensate for the increases in heating tariffs approved today by ANRE. According to Alexei Buzu, consumers will benefit from the increased compensation, and in February they will know the amount for January.
